Elder/Blue Berry Syrup
If you are unaware, elderberries are great for boosting your immune system. The past few winters, my family has been making elderberry syrup, and if I am honest, I don't love the flavor of it. But I love the benefits. So I decided to doctor it up a bit, so I'd like how it would taste.
Ingredients:
-2 Ounces freeze-dried -elderberries
-2 cups blueberry
-2 Oranges quartered
-2 sliced vanilla beans
-2 cinnamon sticks
-1 tsp cloves
-2 anise pods
-Chunk of ginger (sliced)
-1 cup honey
Directions:
1. Add most ingredients (wait to add honey) plus 8 cups of water into a pot to boil.
2. Once boiling turn down to a simmer.
3. Cook until half of the liquid boils away (1 hour)
4. Once cooked down, strain the liquid into a large bowl.
5. Wait for the liquid to cool down to room temperature.
6. Once cool, whisk in the cup of honey until combined.
7. Store in a glass jar in the fridge. Good for up to 3 months.
Add some to your coffee, matcha, and sparkling water, take it by the spoonful if you have a cough!
Hope you are having a great day!
